WELCOME and thank you for visiting my website.
The purpose of my psychotherapy practice is to help clients foster the personal growth and change they seek. I hope to help you explore whatever issues bring you to therapy in a safe, healing, supportive and effective manner. My approach to therapy is client centered and collaborative.
I believe that each person is the expert in their lives and my role is to assist my clients by teaching new skills, pointing out and reinforcing existing coping strategies, providing supportive feedback and exploring and helping resolve those issues that cause stress and suffering. I am skilled at helping clients create clear goals and develop a plan of how to reach those goals. I am also flexible and supportive if exploration is more appropriate to help you get what you seek from therapy. My style is warm and interactive. I will happily give you feedback and point out patterns of behavior that may be related to patterns you seek to change.
My psychotherapy practice is very informed by mindfulness, cognitive behavioral therapy, psychodynamic thinking and motivational interviewing.
In addition to working with clients individually, I enjoy working with couples and families. Much of my work with couples and families is focused on improving communication and problem solving skills. One of the essential goals is helping clients focus on being on the same team with one another and learning to see difference less as obstacles and more as strengths and opportunities for growth.
Enjoy your visit and please contact me for further information.
Best,
John
