Interpersonal relationships can be great sources of strength, but can also be great sources of stress.

We all share a fundamental need for closeness and security, but very few of us had great models for how to develop and sustain relationships with others, let alone how to deal with the inevitable conflicts that arise in those relationships. I am skilled, knowledgeable and experienced at helping people learn how to resolve conflicts and strengthen their relationships.

I work with both same and opposite sex couples and provide counseling for non-romantic relationships, such as those between siblings, parents and their children, roommates, collegues, etc. Couples/Relationship counseling can help you and your spouse/partner/significant other at any stage in your relationship:

  • Learn to communicate more effectively

  • Disagree in a healthier way and stop having the same arguments over and over

  • Feel more physically and emotionally connected

  • Improve your sex life

  • Recover from betrayals, shame and lying

  • Work together as a team (in all relationships including parenting)

  • Maintain your individuality in your partnership and reduce feelings of competition

  • Negotiate differences

  • Manage feelings of jealousy

I choose to use Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) with couples because it is effective, well researched and empirically sound. A recent study of EFT found that approximately 70% of couples recovered from relationship distress and 90% of couples improved significantly. EFT has been shown to positively impact depression, intimacy and trust in couples.
